Moon Ceremonies - Flow and Energy - A Noctuary

A Noctuary ( a diary of what occurs at night) the opposite of a diary ( a daytime record)

We are in full moon energy, what does this mean in an Aboriginal context and how can we relate to this power and flow, and why is this energy part of the applications or interpretation of the motion of the sky.

Why do we join this energy of flow?

Aboriginal astronomy was first described by Stanbridge (1857), and subsequent important works include those by Mountford (1976), Haynes (1992), Johnson (1998), and Cairns & Harney (2003). A lot of this work describes the narrative of dreaming stories and symbolism. Several Aboriginal groups including Tweed/Byron Coast tell how the Pleiades are a group of sisters chased by a young man in the constellation of Orion.

We call this story 'Jirun' and it is a story of female cooperation, safety, security and nurturing between women, it reminds us we are not alone and that we are connected to power in the stars and in our veins. The story has been one of pursuit and chase in many reiterations, yet in our storytelling, it is one of the sisters coming to support each other to uplift into the sky a sister and women for care and support, to remind her of her vastness.

Currie Country Women Circle talk this story around a fire and at the season when the seven stars (Jirun) are evident by the naked eye (winter on East Coast) and this is also the story that connects women on the Aboriginal East Coast to women on the Aboriginal West Coast sharing a spiritual connection that we are from the stars, a simple logical explanation of the physics of science that confirms that we are made of the same chemical and atoms as stars.

Aboriginal communities knew with certainty of this scientific reality, and to explain it easily is to say

'we are made of stars' than having to be a scientist to understand molecule composition.

As star beings, our stories, purpose, meaning and flow of living are connected to celestial movements and this tempo sets the cadence of our lives.

Our Women's Cruise every full moon is when the Sun and Moon are in line with the Earth (when a full moon or new moon occur), their combined gravity cause very high tides (and very low tides) in the oceans, waters.

So the Moon affects the tides because of gravity, gravity from the Sun and the spinning of the Earth also change how the tides behave. We are made from star atoms, and water, 60% of the human adult body is water. 158, the brain and heart are composed of 73% water, and the lungs are about 83% water. The skin contains 64% water, muscles and kidneys are 79%, and even the bones are watery: 31% (H.H. Mitchell, Journal of Biological Chemistry), so we as a species are moved like ebb, and flow and respond to celestial movements.

The Women Circles ( including the cruise events) are to begin to align with this process twice a month (new Moon -Full Moon) to take the time to connect through a mindful active ritual, a process that acts like a tide in flow with the energy of a system larger than us and which holds us all.

Aboriginal peoples here and globally respond to this knowledge as a way to be aligned like the moon and sun aligning with the earth and move in tandem with release and renewal as the practice of flow.

CC Women Circle and Cruises begin this process, reminding us to surrender to systems larger than ourselves to be humble to them and move with them.

Take a moment every New Moon and Full Moon, remember that you are created with the same atoms as the universe, you are the stars, you are the universe, behave like it is a part of your being, and conscious knowing.

Align the unspoken with the spoken.

Be well.

Be In Flow.

Trust a system larger than we can control to love you, support you, nurture you.

If prayer/mindfulness is talking to a higher power (consciousness), then intuition is a higher power (consciousness) talking to you.

Let it lead you. Listen to the earth and its systems.

warmest enery + happy full moon
